Ultralife 9V Lithium Battery 10-Pack (U9VL-JP10CP)A "Contractor Pack" of 10 ULTRALIFE 9V Lithium batteries was purchased in October 2010. The batteries arrived well packed in an attractive sealed box; each battery has a plastic cover over the electrodes. This made a great marketing presentation. Function wise however, the batteries packaged within are worthless. Only two of the ten batteries now show more than a one-V charge. All of the positive terminals are corroded. Some terminals are deteriorated to such an extent that is difficult to remove the plastic terminal cover. Note that these batteries are unused and still in the original sealed contractor pack box. The product code on the package is: 7 40286 10020 8.The idea of a 10-year smoke alarm battery is attractive. I will investigate if a reputable battery manufacturer is now making such a unit. But I will not buy again from Ultralife Corporation.

Initially I was devastated when I got these batteries. The reason being The code stamped on the battery was written just like this: 122003. I just about hit the roof when I saw that date. Thinking a 10 year shelf life means in my home not some store shelf. I called and got my label to return the batteries. In the meantime I was so angry, I called the manufacture, (not the seller) and asked them just when were these batteries were made? Well, I'm happy to say the numbers mean the battery was made sometime in March of 2012. Not December of 2003. Now that is a whole lot better. I owe the seller an apology for what I was thinking they had done. I'm satisfied the batteries are fresh enough, and I won't be returning them. Instead I'll be up and down the ladder changing from alkaline to lithium in all the smoke detectors in my home as is now the fire code in my city. Rating 4 stars because they are just 2 months shy of being a year old, but they are nicely priced and worth the trade off.

Batteries came well packaged and were a great deal compared to pricing on other Lithium 9 volts. Each battery even had a rubber cover included to protect it's contacts. They are 1200mAh if anyone is curious.I wish these batteries had dates on them because I am not sure when they were manufactured ... but I can't knock a star off for that.I'll update this review with the install date when I put these in my smoke detectors and how long they end up lasting.
